Seoul, The Second Time Around

“Hindi ka ba nagsasawang pumuntang Korea?” (Don’t you get tired of visiting Korea?)

Again and again people ask me this question. Again and again I answer with a resounding no. It’s only my second time to visit the country, and I don’t think I’ll get tired of it even if it’s my tenth (or hundredth) visit. Besides, I haven’t even been outside Seoul!

It’s Korea and I’ve been dreaming of this country since I was 13 years old. Let’s just say I don’t easily get tired of things, especially of a country and people who’ve only shared good memories with me.

This time I went with my aunt, little cousins and grandmother. We only stayed for four days, and it’s incredibly tiring. I feel like I had to babysit all five of them. Hehe. But I’m so thankful to be given the chance to visit it with them. It was a sudden trip because we were originally planning Singapore, but surprisingly, we got cheaper tickets bound for Seoul. Our visit may be short but it was fun! I acted like a tour guide (who’s just as confused as any tourist), translator (who used sign language more than Korean  language), subway navigator, and photographer. But not so much as a photographer because someone’s always holding on to my arms, sometimes both arms.

I know I didn’t post much on Instagram so this is kinda lame for an Instadump but it has to do for now. I don’t think I’ll be able to upload the proper photos till this weekend but I’m so excited to share my stories and some photos with you!

I’m happy that my family love the country as much as I do. The locals have been the kindest and we only have good words to say about them. It’s no longer that cold, but I still loved the weather. Walking around during daytime was refreshing, especially when we came from the sweltering Philippine summer. There were no longer that many flowers, because apparently spring came early this year. But Korea was as beautiful as I remembered.

If you’ll ask if I want to go back, then yes, I do. There are many places I haven’t been to and I actually have quite a long list of things I have to do in South Korea. Busan! Jeju! I haven’t even tried Korean fried chicken and mekju ala Cheon SongYi and I have yet to eat jajjangmyun. So you see, i haven’t even made a dent on my bucket list.

When we went back to the airport for our departure, there’s that ache and longing that I only reserve for this country. I love it so much even if it’s not my own. It’s just four hours away and I know I can always come back, but I cannot help feeling sad everytime I board the plane. That’s why I can’t wait for November.

See you again soon, Korea. 😉
