Food and Games at Dyce N Dyne, Kapitolyo, Pasig

August 28, 2015

dyce n dyne avalon

You know you found worthwhile friends when you can spend six hours together just playing board games. Last Saturday, my officemates and I headed to Dyce ‘N Dyne, a steampunk-themed board game café in Kapitolyo, for a full day of food and games.

I thought I would collapse and fall asleep, because we went straight from the office. However, we were too busy having fun and fighting and arguing and being all competitive to be sleepy. I learned so many new games that day!

As a kid, the only board games I played religiously were Dama, Chess, Scrabble and Snake & Ladders. The only time I got to play Monopoly was during Intramurals in school. It seems a bit silly that I end up enjoying and learning more games just when I reached my 25th year. But there’s nothing wrong with that, right?

Though it does sound extremely geeky to play board games all day on a Saturday, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Also, [Read more…]

Life Lately: On Silly Faces, Skipped Classes, and Spilled Milk Tea

August 10, 2015

life lately Hello from me, whose eyebags are slowly swallowing her entire face. I haven’t been blogging much lately, and that’s mostly because all I do is sleep when I’m out of the office. Though I can stay awake during my shift, staying awake during the day proves to be more difficult. I am also now more adept to sleeping six to eight hours straight from noon to early evening, which I believe to be a talent. Since blogging is now way below on my priority list, I think doing this Life Lately posts should become part of my regular programming. So yes, you can expect more types of posts like this in the future/   [Read more…]

Saturday Afternoon at Pinto Art Museum, Antipolo, Rizal

August 3, 2015

pinto art gallery

I’ve heard of Pinto Art Museum through word-of-mouth, or more like through Instagram posts. I’m not a very artsy-fartsy person, as I’m someone who has trouble understanding what a painting or any artwork aims to convey. But the white, wide spaces and interesting art installations I see floating around the interwebz were enough to pique my interest.

After months of planning with friends, we finally visited the museum on Jinky’s birthday! Aside from being tons cheaper than paragliding in Carmona Ridge, Cavite (hehe), it’s also just an hour away from the city.

I couldn’t find online a decent direction on how to get there, but Pinto Art Museum is relatively easy to reach via public transportation. At Valero St. in Ayala, Makati,  we looked for a UV Express going to Antipolo, and boarded one passing through Ynares Center. From the Ynares Center, we rode a tricycle going to the museum. The total travel time was just an hour or so, but going back to Makati took us a longer due to heavy traffic.

Still, Pinto Art Museum is a very worthwhile place to visit especially on a lazy Saturday. Even for people who aren’t that into galleries will find something they like. [Read more…]

#SweatEatOut2015 at Olympic Point Island Resort, Tingloy, Batangas

July 6, 2015

olympic point resort tingloy batangas

Before the country’s bombarded with one typhoon after another, our company trooped all the way Anilao for two days of fun under the summer sun. I was extremely excited for two reasons. First, it was my only beach trip this summer! And second, it was my first outing with the new friends I made in my new company. I heard it’s the grandest outing in the company’s history, so I am more than glad to be a part of it.

Coming straight from our shift and from a week of cheer dance practice, I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the outing and would only sleep it off due to fatigue. But there were too much activities from the moment we arrived at the resort in Batangas down to our last hour in the island that skipping the activities wasn’t an option. It sure made the event memorable, though, and it’s probably the best company outing I ever had. [Read more…]

Twenty-Five and Thriving

June 11, 2015

hello maturity
A few years ago, being twenty-five seemed so old. I used to think that it’s the time when I should stop playing and start focusing on the life ahead of me. I had my life planned out till I’m twenty-five, and now that I am, none of those plans have been realized.

I’m neither a published author nor a young mother. I’m neither an English teacher in Korea nor a successful career woman in any field. I’m an office employee working nights and struggling to sleep during the day. I’m someone who’s just happy to be making ends meet and having time for my dramas and friends. Instead of having a minor heart attack realizing that my life is flashing quickly before my eyes, I am merely nodding along and thinking that life is still good.

The past year has been difficult, but I have to say that this is the happiest I’ve been in years. I am far from what you’d call successful, and I am miles away from achieving my dreams, no matter how little they may be. Yet, I can count my blessings and say that I have more than enough to be grateful. I even wonder if it’s safe to say that I have already defeated the so-called quarter-life crisis.

I am at the point in life where I have learned to stop comparing my minor accomplishments to my counterparts’ major ones. Though some people seem daunting at first, I learn to see them past their accomplishments or their work experience. Like me, they’re also probably at their own crossroads.

Of course, I am far from content with where I am right now. There are more things I want to achieve and more adventures I want to take. But I am still young and my dreams are not going anywhere. [Read more…]
