The Long-Awaited Hong Kong/Macau Trip

May 16, 2013

This trip had been years in the making, and finally, finally it pushed through! Tita Matt said that we should go to Hong Kong after Gian graduated from grade school, and we did! It was quite tiring since we arrived in Hong Kong on May 10 at around 10PM and left on the 13th early in the morning. So it’s basically two days and three late nights. But it was fun, and it was definitely worth it.

IMG_2762 1It was definitely not easy to travel with kids, especially when they’re not used to walking around all the time. Let’s just say they’re not the most active kids around. Good thing they aren’t the type who’d ask to be carried when they’re tired. And as Ate put it, even if she gets paid 1000 HKD to carry Nana the entire day, she wouldn’t. Haha. [Read more…]

Birthday Wishlist Ver. 23.0

May 14, 2013

wishlistIn just a few weeks I’m turning another year older, and for the first time in a long time, I actually feel excited. I’m a birthday grinch after all, but suddenly growing older doesn’t sound too bad!

Anyway, since my birthday’s near, it’s time for another wish list! I don’t want much this year. Oh really.

  1. Holga 120 – I borrowed Kimpee’s Holga 120 for my Hong Kong/Macau trip last weekend, and I enjoyed using it! I think most of my shots are fail ones, though. Haha. I also bought a box of three color negative films, and I didn’t get to use one. So I now feel obliged to buy my own Holga to use the films. Haha. A secondhand will do. 🙂
  2.  16GB SD card – I’ve had my phone for about 6 months now, but I’m getting a bit stingy about this. Hee.
  3. The Complete Sherlock Holmes – I already have the ebook but I’d really rather have the books. I got addicted to Sherlock Holmes after I watched the BBC series Sherlock. Then I watched RDJ’s Sherlock Holmes, then watched Elementary! So I really, really want to read the book.
  4. 4GB flash drive – Just because. 🙂
  5. Close encounter with CNBLUE – They’re having a concert here in June so I’m hoping that I’d be able to get in close contact with them in the airport. Haha.
  6. Tone concert DVD – Pretty much the only thing I’m planning to buy in HK but I passed by only one music store and it’s not available. When oh when would I be able to buy this one. Huhu

Dear friends, I know that most aren’t cheap, but you can just chip in if you want. I won’t mind. Wahahaha. 🙂

Baby Factory

May 7, 2013

My boyfriend once asked me if we have a factory of babies at home. I seem to always talk about babies all the time! Well, we sadly do not have a baby factory, it’s just that I’m from a pretty big family. There’s always someone getting married or someone getting pregnant. It’s a blessing really, because babies are the ones who make family gatherings the most fun. I love kids, too, so that’s a plus.

Also, I call them babies despite being in grade school already. I don’t know. I feel sad when they grow older and they’re not cute anymore. Just smart asses who always get the best of me. Haha.

mika 2

Meet Mikaela Princess. We had multiple celebrations last Sunday and one of those was her birthday. She just turned 4 and she’s also starting to be the resident brat of the family. I’ve talked about her once here. She’s so adorable, though, that even when she throw tantrums, we just stare at her with awe. She’s cute, cute, cute.

And here’s another photo of her continuously proving that she can be bratty but she’s just too cute to resist.

mariel

Meet Mariel. She pouts like that all the time and you feel like pouting yourself, too. And when you see her, you just say “Ngusooooooo” and she does that. She’s so pretty!

Ngusoooo!

kyra

And finally, the newest addition to our family! She’s Kyra Yzabella and she still doesn’t have a nickname. People call her different monickers, and no one can’t seem to agree what to call her. Her mommy just calls her Bebe, and that’s fine, too.

She’s Kynan’s little sister, and ever since she was born, Kynan no longer goes to our house to play. But I don’t mind. I can’t wait for Kyra to grow bigger and older and she’ll come over to our house to play, too. Hello, new playmate!

ladies

And they’re ex-babies, because they are now ladies. But Gianna still seems like a baby sometimes because she’s so soft and fair and she wears white all the time! They’re still cuddly, though.

And below are my grandparents who are no longer babies, of course, because they’re my grandparents. Haha. But they’re still child-like sometimes, and they’re incredibly adorable together and I love them. And they’re pretty much the CEOs of the baby factory so their photo belongs here. Heh.

Seoul Strangers

April 30, 2013

IMG_2875 IMG_6133 1 IMG_6229 IMG_5953 1 IMG_3976 1 IMG_3375 1 IMG_2996 IMG_4458 1 IMG_3165 IMG_3957 1 IMG_5927 1

My favorite thing about the strangers I met in Seoul was the fact that they’re all so well-dressed! My friend wasn’t joking when she said that Koreans follow cut-throat fashion! I seriously felt under-dressed. Nevertheless, they’re one of the nicest and friendliest people I’ve encountered in my travels. They always have a smile to give to strangers and they bow whenever your eyes met. I felt so kilig. Heehee.

Since I love kids, I definitely enjoyed oggling at all the pre-school students! It’s amazing how the kids seem so independent. I’m so used to seeing kids here in the Philippines always accompanied by adults wherever they go. So I was amazed at how a class of about 20 students were only guided by a teacher or two. I wished I learned that kind of independence early in my childhood years! (I gained my ~independence~ after college, and I fought hard for it. Haha.) But then again, there’s a sense of security in Seoul that’s quite hard to feel here.

Too bad I didn’t make any friends, though, the way my friends who went to Seoul did! So when I go back, I will make sure that I’ll make a Korean friend. Haha.

Spring Last Year

April 27, 2013

IMG_3066 IMG_5876 1 IMG_5862 1 IMG_3257 1 IMG_6284 1 IMG_3034 IMG_3658 1 IMG_3275 1 IMG_6084 IMG_6146 1IMG_3159 IMG_3174

My photography teacher back in college advised us to avoid cliche subjects such as flowers. But I can’t. How could I ever resist such photogenic subjects? 🙂

It was spring when we went to Korea last year. And everywhere you look, there were flower boxes and trees brimming with flowers! How could I not take photos of all the pretty flowers?

I have yet to experience winter and fall, and summer is pretty much the only season in my country. But I have this gut feel that Spring has all the potential to be my favorite. It’s like the perfect season to be outdoors. it seems like everyday is just perfect during spring, you know. It’s not too cold and not too hot , too. Perfect season is perfect.

I don’t wish for much but I wish there’s spring in my country. 🙁
