Baguio Weekend

February 28, 2014

Excuse the obviously posed last photo, you can even see my glasses tucked in my pants. Hahaha.

Obviously I enjoyed my Baguio trip way too much. It’s my first travel this year with my travel+food buddies! The weather was so perfect because it was really cold especially at night and in the early morning. I fell in love with Baguio, and it was the first time that I realized how cold Baguio can be. It was summer during my first and second trips to Baguio so I didn’t really feel the cold. But last week, I couldn’t leave the dorm without a scarf wrapped around my neck. The cold sneaked in no matter how many layers of clothes I wore. Even my thick jacket I wore at night did little.

I loved the weather.

We spent a great deal of time gushing over the showcase of lovely flowers. We went strawberry picking and ate to our heart’s content. We complained about the high Baguio jeepneys and complained even more while climbing up steep streets. But we embraced the long walks and and laughed till we cry. We fooled around Camp John Hay and pretended to be kung fu masters. We braved the night market and scavenged for cheap goods. We watched the parades and squeezed ourselves through the thick crowd. We had a pretty grand time and talked about going back while still there.

I will never call Baguio overrated. There are still so many sights to see and so many restaurants to try! Three short days weren’t enough. I’d love to stay longer and to not follow a schedule. I’d love to just walk around going nowhere. Baguio is a city that begs to be explored. The winding streets that go up and down seem to be impossible to trek in just one visit.

I’ll definitely go back to Baguio. Next time, I’ll make sure that the weather’s colder that I won’t be able to leave the house without a thick jacket even when the sun is high. I just love cold weather.
