Happy Fiesta

December 13, 2011

A happy fiesta indeed. A way overdue blog post, too.

I’m not really big on celebrating fiestas. I kind of want to skip it altogether. I’m not a fan of big crowds and you must understand that there are visitors all day during fiesta and even the night before. Often times I would troop to my lola’s house and stay there until the crowd thins. I avoid my parents’ visitors because they always introduce me and I’m often questioned about what I do and such. Back in college, I hate explaining what DevCom is. I would sometimes just say Journalism instead of DevCom Now that I’m working, I hate it even more to explain SEO. So I’d just say I’m an online writer or something. Argh. Why am I always faced with tough questions about the things I do? I know I’m the only one to blame, but I sometimes wish I could just tell them to search it on Google.

Every fiesta, my parents would tell me to invite friends over. And I don’t know. It always feels awkward to invite people. I don’t really know what to tell people when I invite them. Obviously, I lack social skills. I always invite Alex, of course, because my parents pretty much require him to be there (and every other occasion, too) ever since they found out about his presence in my life. Heh.

This fiesta, I actually had tons of fun. Some of my cousins from Manila stayed over night. They arrive on the 29th of November, and we pigged out until 4AM. (I don’t need to gain more weight but yeah…) I don’t really get to bond with them that much since we rarely see each other. But it’s nice to get back in touch with them. We have tons of differences but it’s important to set those differences aside. We are family, anyway.

On the day of the fiesta, I woke up early because I had to attend a baptism ceremony. Yes, I am once again a ninang. I couldn’t enter the church, though, since there were too many people! My co-ninang (lulz) and I went straight to my new kumare‘s (another lulz) house, instead. I am a ninang for the 7th time! I have yet to do my Christmas shopping and I don’t really know where to start. But I guess 7 is still too few compared to my cousin’s 25 inaanak. HAHAHA.

Two of my high school friends, Riya and May, arrived around lunch time, and it made me tremendously happy. I haven’t seen them in a long time, and I though they were mad because I’ve been skipping some gimick nights. Heh. Alex arrived around an hour or two later. It was the first time my tito saw Alex. He lectured him about a lot of things, and I’m sitting there, thinking those stuff should definitely not be coming from him (LONG STORY). But I managed to take Alex far away from my tito. We went outside to join Riya and May in singing videoke. Alex did no singing, though.

Kynan was also there. The first time Kynan and Alex saw each other, they were fast friends. But the succeeding times Alex visited, Kynan hated him with a passion. Heh. Kynan gets really jealous when we bring boys over. On my birthday last year, Kynan threatened to stab Alex with a fork. So cute, really.

Fiesta, 2009

This fiesta, some miracle happened and Kynan seemed to have forgiven Alex for all the wrongs he did to him. Ha.  They ended up playing together and before I knew it, Kynan wouldn’t leave Alex alone. When other kids arrived, Kynan would play with them but would always go back to Alex. It’s so cute. I don’t know. They’re two of the closest boys to my heart, and I just feel happy seeing them get along.

However, I wasn’t quite so happy when Kynan started choosing Alex over me. Huhuhu. You see, I’m quite proud that Kynan and I are very close. We spend entire weekends together! But last fiesta, Kynan was asked who he loves more, Alex or me, and he chose Alex! Alex is still happy about his new best friend, and I’m still moping about it. Huhu. Somebody has replaced me in Kynan’s heart and I am devastated.

That’s me and my worst rival over Kynan’s affection. Heh. I swear his complexion is much lighter in person. I am not defensive.

May and I cuddling. Lulz. Riya already left when I remembered I have a camera. Heh. I don’t know. Lately, I’ve been extremely lazy when it comes to taking photos but I think I’m getting back to enjoying it. I don’t know. My lens is hard to work with and it frustrates me! Anywa, May did some palm reading! I was scared at first but it was scary at all. In fact, I had the most boring palm reading ever. When she read my sister’s palm and Alex’s and KP’s, it’s quite exciting. But when it comes to my palm, argh. I am so boring. She basically said that there’s nothing much to say because I don’t take that many risks and everything is going smooth-sailing for me. Too smooth-sailing. I am a sad banana. I suddenly want to go on a scary and challenging adventure. I want to be a risk-taker!!!!

Ate’s boyfriend and my boyfriend being all chummy. Ate complained that Alex wouldn’t pose properly when taking a picture with me (saddest thing ever) but would project when with KP.  Then they explained that that’s just the way boys are. I still don’t get it.

Also, I’m quite happy that Alex is pretty okay with my family. He doesn’t get to bond much with my parents or my sister but when he does, it goes quite well. Happy Jane is happy.

Ang pogi. :3
